A Dagartech generator set guarantees the power supply for the Correos Express branch in Getafe

Correos Express expands its service in the central area of Madrid with the opening of this new branch in Getafe.

This new platform cover a surface area of some 10,000 m2, has 2 sorters, 40 trailer docks and 54 light docks, and is equipped with the latest technology to provide logistics services. It includes sorting systems with dynamic weighing and mechanical conveyor and has a production capacity of 12,000 packs/hour.

With the installation of a 445 kVA generator, the logistics operator’s energy needs are covered in the event of power grid failures

The needs of the client

The main requirement was to cover a power demand of 450 kVA, which would be automatically activated in the event of a power failure. Other requirements associated with this project were the following:

  • Guarantee a fast and reliable start-up of the equipment in emergency situations, as the generating set would be installed outdoors.
  • Flexible and comprehensive event monitoring, as well as comprehensive display of engine-related information to facilitate maintenance or repair work on the machine.
  • Guaranteeing more than 8 hours’ autonomy (operating at 100% charge).
  • Minimise noise levels of the equipment in operation.

Supply scope breakdown of the equipment

  • Motor-alternator block
    • Baudouin motorisation (6M21G440/5)).
      • Engine warm-up system to ensure quick start-up of the equipment, even at low temperatures.
    • Stamford Alternator (S4L1D-F) with AVR – AS440 regulation.
  • Control panelControl panel
    • DeepSea Electronics control module – – DSE 7320 MKII.
      • Switchboard with network monitoring, which will automatically switch the generator set on when an outage is detected in the electrical grid and will automatically switch off when the supply of electricity is restored.
      • It makes it possible to monitor a large number of engine parameters and to display information, status and alarm alerts.
      • It is equipped with USB, RS232 and RS485 communication ports, in addition to DSENet® for system expansion.
      • It offers the option of Ethernet networking.
  • Other equipment
    • High attenuation exhaust silencer (-35 dB(A)).
    • 630 Amp switchboard
    • Electro-welded cab made of high resistance galvanized steel painted with electrostatic epoxy-polyester powder paint.
      • With interior soundproofing by means of a lining with soundproofing material.
