650 kVA of Dagartech Power ensure the continuity of a Pumping Station in Barcelona

The Els Bellots – Taigua Pumping Station, essential for water supply in Terrassa, relies on Dagartech to ensure service continuity in the event of power outages with the installation of a 650 kVA generator.

The main requirement of the project was to guarantee the simultaneous start-up of two out of the three pumps at the site.

Customer Requirements

Supply continuity with two out of three pumps operating simultaneously

  • Installation of a 650 kVA generator to provide auxiliary power to the facility’s receivers in the event of a mains failure or interruption.
  • The generator needed to sustain the electrical installation for 12 hours at 75% load.
  • Ensuring that two out of the three existing pumps can start and operate simultaneously, guaranteeing service continuity.

The Dagartech Solution

    Dagartech proposed a generator from its Industrial range. Specifically, a custom-designed and manufactured DGVS 650 ST generator was supplied, delivering 657 kVA of emergency power, equipped with a Volvo engine and a Stamford alternator. This unit has a maximum generation capacity of 947 A and features a 1,075-litre fuel tank, ensuring 12 hours of autonomy at 75% load.

    Results:

    • Reliability: Ensures uninterrupted operation of the pumping station, with the capacity to start both pumps simultaneously.
    • Energy Efficiency: Optimised fuel consumption and stable operation thanks to the integration of a high-performance EU Stage II engine.

  • Standard equipment of the DGVS 650 ST model

    Engine

    • VOLVO TAD1642GE-B Engine, 1,500 rpm, water-cooled.
      • Protection for hot and moving parts.
      • Starting system with an electric starter motor, maintenance-free battery with a disconnect switch, and a 24V starter motor-driven charging alternator.
    • High-attenuation (-35dB(A)) efficient silent exhaust system for gas evacuation to the exterior, with a protective top cover.

    Alternator

    • Stamford alternator with 12 wires and 4 poles, brushless, and electronic voltage regulation (AVR type).
      • IP23 protection rating.
      • Class H insulation.

    Base Frame and Fuel Tank

    • 1,075-litre fuel tank integrated into the base frame, equipped with a fuel level gauge and fuel supply system to the engine.
    • Anti-vibration mounts for the engine block on the base frame.

    Control Panel

    • DeepSea Electronics DSE 7320MKII automatic control module.
    • DeepSea Electronics battery charger.
      • Designed for continuous connection to the battery to maintain a 100% charge. The charger switches to float mode when charging is complete.
    • Emergency stop button.
    • Protections:
      • 4-pole circuit breaker for overload and short-circuit protection.
      • Protective fuses for the control system.
  • Added options

    Engine

    • Engine heating system, ensuring maximum generator set response quality regardless of temperature or humidity conditions.

    Alternator

    • The alternator includes anti-condensation resistances and type 3 impregnation system (spray). This additional equipment ensures the durability of the component despite high humidity conditions.

    Mechanical Options

    • The electric generator incorporates a galvanized sheet metal enclosure and base frame, also galvanized, with a special C5M paint treatment (marine coating). The application of this treatment helps to combat oxidation and corrosion caused by humidity or environmental pollution. An essential option for this project, where the machine will be installed outdoors.
    • Sealed base frame to prevent potential liquid spills.
