A corrosion-proof Dagartech generator set in the port of San Sebastian

Dagartech has completed another project for the infrastructure industry.

It is a project for the Port of San Sebastian, for which it has manufactured a 35 kVA group that feeds a tower crane.

The installation of this equipment has been undertaken by the rental and sale of generator sets, Grupo Iryal.

Specifications of the projectThe main requirement of the project was to provide a generator set to power a crane tower, which would be able to withstand the high humidity conditions of a marine environment

The needs of the client

Corrosion was the main challenge in this project, which required the supply of power to auxiliary machinery.

A equipment for auxiliary power supply of machinery (tower crane), offering a stable response, to charge variations.
Given the environment in which it was to be installed, guarantee the durability of the equipment (bodywork, bench and components) in the best possible conditions and for as long as possible.
Minimise and optimise the maintenance tasks of the generating set as much as possible.

Standard equipment of model DGPS 35 ST

Engine

Diesel engine PERKINS 1103A-33G, 1,500 rpm, water-cooled.
- Protection from hot and moving parts.
- Electric motor starting system, battery (maintenance-free) with switch and charge alternator driven by 12V starter motor.
Efficient -30dB(BA) high attenuation exhaust silencer for the evacuation of gases to the outside with a superior protective cover.

Alternator

Stamford 12-wire, 4-pole brushless alternator with electronically controlled AVR-type voltage.
- With IP23 protection level.
- Insulation class H.

Bench and fuel tank

Fuel tank with a capacity of 143 litres located on the bench itself, fitted with measuring gauge and fuel installation to the engine.
Anti-vibration dampers from the engine block to the bench.

Control panel

DeepSea Electronics automatic control module DSE 6020MKII.
DeepSea Electronics battery charger.
- Designed to be permanently connected to the battery and maintain 100% of the charge. The charger switches to float mode when charging is complete.
Button for emergency stop.
Protections:
- 4-pole magnetothermic protection against overloads and short circuits.
- Protection fuses for the control set.

Engine

Engine heating system, which guarantees maximum response quality of the generator set, regardless of the temperature or humidity conditions that may occur.

Alternator

The alternator includes anti-condensation resistors and 3 type impregnation system (spray). With this additional equipment, the durability of the component is guaranteed, despite the high humidity conditions.

Mechanical options

The electric generator incorporates a galvanised sheet metal cab and a galvanised bench, also with a special C5M paint treatment (marine coating). The application of this treatment helps to combat rust and corrosion derived from the presence of moisture or environmental pollution. An key option for this project, where the machine will be installed outdoors.
Closed bench, to avoid possible spillage of liquids.
